The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) issues specialty plates. Applications can be found on this page, in the Treasurer's Office, and through WYDOT.
The application process takes approximately 4-6 weeks. Specialty plates that do not require registration (pioneer, street rod, custom vehicle, sample, novelty) will be mailed directly to the customer. All other specialty plates will be mailed to the designated County Treasurer's Office to be registered. Any plates with a county prefix (prestige and University of Wyoming) must first be registered in that county for tracking purposes. This means any 13-XXXXX plate must be issued by Converse County.
The price for specialty plates differs for each type. Click on the applications to your right to view the requirements and cost for each plate, and to print an application.
All specialty plates are good for the current plate series, which ends in 2017; the new series with a different design will run from 2017 - 2025. For more information on specialty plates for the upcoming series, click here.
