It is always in the consumer's best interest to verify that the data being used is from a reliable source. Many government departments share data, as well as private business and educational institutions. However, it is still up to the user to check the metadate of the files being used, as well as checking the accuracy themselves. If you have access to NAIP file or other remote sensing data it can be beneficial to visually check for accuracy.
