Property Tax Payments

Property Taxes in Wyoming become due and are billed on September 1st of each year.

Taxes may be paid either in halves or in full.

If paid in halves:

The first half of the taxes become delinquent on November 11th
The second half of the taxes become delinquent on May 11th of the subsequent year.
If paid in full: The entire tax must be paid by December 31st. For example, the 2000 taxes are billed on September 1, 2000. The first half of the taxes are delinquent on November 11th, 2000, and the second half become delinquent on May 11th, 2001. However, if the entire tax is paid by December 31, 2000, all interest on the first half is waived.

IMPORTANT: You will not receive a receipt for your property tax notices unless you request one. If you want a receipt, please attach a note with your payment requesting one. If you would like to request a receipt now, use the Contact Us link above to e-mail us.

Mortgage Companies

Most of the real estate in Converse County is serviced in some way by a mortgage company.

Even if your a mortgage company pays your taxes, you will still receive a tax notice on September 1st of each year. This notice is for your records.

The mortgage companies send lists each year requesting information on property accounts. The Treasurer's Office sends them the tax information. For most mortgage companies, the information is sent electronically or on data tape.

Mortgage companies then make tax payments in November and May. By law, they are required to pay your taxes in the maximum number of payments allowed by the state. Therefore, they do not have the option of paying your taxes all at once in September or December. They must pay in halves, in November and May.

Tax Payments are made to:

Converse County Treasurer's Office
107 N 5th Street, Ste 129
Douglas, WY 82633

and may be paid by cash, check, or Discover card.

Special Assessments are taxes levied by special districts. Converse County has two special assessment districts: La Prele Irrigation District, and Monkey Road Service and Improvement District.
