WHAT'S A TAX SALE?

The Treasurer is required to conduct a tax sale every year to offer Certificates of Purchase on properties with unpaid taxes.

The following link is a copy of our Tax Sale Pamphlet available at the Treasurer's Office.

Tax Sale Pamphlet

Investors attend the tax sale to take advantage of the interest rate of return on the taxes they pay (15% plus a 3% penalty). Other taxpayers attend the sale to try and gain interest in specific parcels of land around the county.

Either way, it's important to know about tax sales and how they work.

You can either follow this information through a page at a time or use the links below to jump to a specific answer. Return to this page at any time by clicking the "Tax Sales" link in the right column.
